Getting there by air
Paraguay's only international airport is Silvio Pettirossi International in Asuncion. Direct international flights from Asuncion are limited to neighbouring countries: Buenos Aires, Argentina; La Paz and Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Sao Paulo and Rio De Janiero, Brazil; Iquique and Santiago; Chile. Alternatively, you could fly to Buenos Aires and take a comfortable bus to Asuncion taking in the Argentinian scenery on the way.
Getting to Pilar
From Silvio Pettirossi International airport, take a taxi to the bus terminal (around 25 minutes). From there you can get a bus to Pilar where we’ll pick you up and bring you to our house. The bus journey will take about six hours, but the buses are extremely comfortable and you’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful views of the Paraguayan countryside as it flies past your window. It’s all part of the adventure!
Travel in Paraguay is easiest by bus. The bus services are regular, reliable and inexepensive. Car hire can be expensive.
EU passport holders have a free 90 day visa. This can be renewed by leaving and re-entering the country at one of the border towns. Americans, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders will need to obtain a visa.
